The Defense Industrial Base (DIB) plays a crucial role in both the U.S. economy and national security by supplying goods and services to the Department of Defense (DoD) and other governmental entities. However, the DIB confronts escalating cyber risks from adversaries aiming to steal, disrupt, or sabotage its operations and assets.
Published on December 26th, 2023, the DoD’s long-awaited CMMC Proposed Rule introduces a phased rollout spanning three years. This rule builds upon the existing requirements outlined in DFARS 252.204-7012 for the Defense Industrial Base. Anticipated to impact over 500K DoD contract awards annually upon full implementation, this proposed rule represents a significant development in enhancing cybersecurity within the DIB.
To assist the DIB in comprehending and meeting these requirements, Microsoft is hosting a Virtual DIB Day. This event will showcase insights gained from industry peers’ experiences and offer expertise from those at the forefront of cyber requirements set by the DoD. The agenda will encompass discussions on topics such as:
- How to assess your current cybersecurity posture and identify gaps;
- How to prepare for the CMMC assessment and certification process;
- How to implement best practices and tools for cyber hygiene and resilience;
- How to leverage resources and programs to support your cybersecurity efforts; and
- How to collaborate with other DIB stakeholders and partners to share information and best practices.
We will feature three panels, each focusing on distinct aspects of security:
- Deploying security measures and readiness for a JSVA (Joint Security Validation Assessment);
- Operating within a secure cloud environment and communicating with suppliers, partners, or business units in a different cloud; and
- Auditor perspective on what is needed to demonstrate security controls have been implemented and how to prepare.
This event is for anyone who works with or for the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), such as small and medium-sized businesses, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers. You will gain valuable insights into the cyber challenges and solutions that affect the DIB. The event will take place online on January 16th from 11:00am to 3:00pm ET.
