A close friend of mine said the following to me when I said I was starting a blog.
“When you start working, you will never have enough time to run blog.”
I wanted to do even better because he said so.
There are several factors that have kept me blogging:
1) Organizing my thoughts
2) The desire to share my thoughts with others
3) Creating my personal brand
4) Potentially monetizing blog later
What I really enjoyed the most is 1) organizing my thoughts. This is because there were a lot of cases where I did not know what ideas I had, but once I started to write then I would realize there are numerous ideas I could write about.
This may also be the case for people in other art industries as well. JYP’s Jinyoung Park says that he works on his song right away when he gets a sudden inspiration. When the moment has passed, he cannot remember it again.
Likewise, as writing is also a creative activity, there is also a sudden moment of inspiration. And I have developed a habit of taking notes down to capture those moments (I simply take notes on my cell phone and then write it down on my computer in more detail).
Another way to keep writing is to write and prepare articles in advance.
If you have already written a few weeks or months’ worth of articles in advance, then you do not have to write and post every week under pressure. In addition, if you look back at an article you wrote a long time ago before posting it, you can spot new points and corrections, which will lead to improvement in quality of the articles.
With my habit of taking notes and writing in advance, I have been writing and will continue to write in the future.
