Iowa high school football teams could find themselves in a different class when they return to the field next fall.
On Thursday, the Iowa Department of Education approved an amendment that would change football classification based on economic status.The amendment was passed by the Iowa High School Athletic Association in December.The new classification will be determined by a formula accounting for the percentage of students receiving free and reduced lunch and school enrollments.The amendment will shuffle about 40 different schools.The new classification will go into effect this fall.
