NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s basketball opens a three-game homestand this week when the Monarchs host Lincoln (Pa.) for an 11 a.m. Education Day game this Tuesday at Chartway Arena. ODU will celebrate thousands of fourth and fifth graders from Norfolk public schools during the game.

Tuesday’s contest will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Chip Tarkenton and Kim Aston on the call. Fans can also tune into the ODU Sports Radio Network to hear Matthew Hatfield or follow the action with live stats.

The Series
ODU and Lincoln are meeting for the first time.

About ODU
Amari Young recorded a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double, Jordan McLaughlin scored 16 points and the Monarchs (5-3) picked up their third straight win as ODU defeated USC Upstate 57-31 Saturday afternoon in Spartanburg, South Carolina. ODU led the game from start to finish and is now 3-0 in the all-time series versus the Spartans.

McLaughlin continues to lead ODU scorers with 11.4 points per game and Young is not too far behind her at 10.0 points per outing. Mikayla Dickens is just shy of averaging double digits at 9.6 points and Kaye Clark enters Tuesday’s game with a 9.0 scoring average. Dickens has made 12-of-34 (.353) shots from beyond the arc while Clark currently ranks sixth nationally in steals per game (3.75) and seventh in total steals (30). On the glass, Young has pulled down 61 boards (7.6 per game) and Brianna Jackson follows with 45 (5.6 per game). McLaughlin is ODU’s leader in assists with 30 and Young owns the team high in blocks with seven.

ODU currently ranks 18th in the country with 23.25 turnovers forced per game. The Monarchs are also 29th in steals per game (11.8) and 38th in turnover margin (5.62).

About Lincoln
The Lions (3-4) put together back-to-back wins over the University of Charleston and Shepherd University, but have since lost three straight and are coming off a 69-49 loss at home to Jefferson University last Saturday. Anyssa Fields led Lincoln with 17 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks while Kania Pollock also reached double figures with 10 points.

Pollock (15.4 ppg) and Fields (13.3 ppg) pace the Lions offense. Fields is the go-to option from long-range with 12-of-39 makes from beyond the arc and is also the Lions’ top rebounder with 8.7 boards per game. Jaleesa Lanier (7.3 ppg) owns 26 assists, Pollock is first on the team with 14 steals, and Maya Madison Walker has recorded five blocks.

Through seven games, Lincoln has been outscored by an average of 3.4 points. The Lions have combined to shoot .376 (184-for-490) from the floor, .312 (44-for-141) from three-point range and .555 (66-for-119) at the line. In the latest NCAA Division II rankings through games played on Dec. 1, the team ranked seventh nationally in offensive rebounds per game (18.8) and 17th in total rebounds per game (45.50).

Head coach Janice Washington is in her second season with Lincoln following five years at Daytona State College. After winning the CIAA Championship last season, the Lions were picked to repeat in 2022-23, receiving seven of 12 first-place votes in the league’s preseason poll. Lincoln has five returners from that 2021-22 CIAA championship squad: guards Lanier, Pollock and Ciani Montgomery and forwards Madison Walker and Taylor Brown. The team also has six transfers and five freshmen this year. Those newcomers include guards Alaila Walker, Kayiona Willis (Youngstown State) and Shaye Smith; guard/forwards Fields (Georgian Court), Rayniah Walker (Temple) and Ronnasia Blatch-Huggins (University of the District of Columbia); forwards Kaziah Akinniyi, Isis Triplett (St. Petersburg College), D’Ayzha Atkinson and Niani Randall; and forward/center Serena Mosley (West Virginia State).
