The Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism today participated in Vitesco Technologies’ 50th anniversary celebration for the advanced manufacturing facility in Seguin. Adriana Cruz, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, commended the company and the community on reaching this significant milestone and presented a congratulatory certificate from Governor Greg Abbott.
“Made in Texas truly is a powerful global brand,” said Governor Abbott. “Offering unmatched business operating advantages and a growing, skilled workforce, Texas is home to innovative leaders across industries, including advanced manufacturers of automotive electronic components. I thank Vitesco Technologies for their ongoing investment in Texas and for their community partnerships in Seguin. Texas is a manufacturing mecca where today’s products are made and tomorrow’s technologies are brought to life. And together, we are building a brighter future for all Texans.”
The Seguin automotive electronics manufacturing plant first opened its doors in 1972. Now owned by Vitesco Technologies, a global leader in advanced manufacturing, the facility employs more than 1,700 Texans in the manufacture of complex automotive components, including engine controllers, hybrid electric battery controllers, NOx sensors, and other electronics.

Manufacturing is the heart of the Seguin economy. Numerous manufacturers and Fortune 500 manufacturing companies have established major operations within the city of Seguin. Nearly 30% of Seguin’s workforce is employed within the manufacturing industry. Proximity to San Antonio and Austin provides access to a large, diverse, and skilled labor pool and to a robust transportation and logistics network allowing for easy shipping of products across the country and around the world.
Vitesco Technologies, an international leader in intelligent and electrified drive systems based in Regensburg, Germany, employs about 37,000 employees at around 50 locations worldwide.
