I am thrilled to share with our GCC and GCC High customers the exciting news about the rollout of the new Teams client. This new version of Teams is designed to provide a faster, simpler, and more flexible experience for our users, with optimizations for device performance and support for multiple accounts or tenants. The new Teams client is available for a wide range of platforms, including Windows, Mac, VDI, Edu, and Web, and adheres to the Modern Lifecycle Policy, ensuring that users always have access to the latest capabilities, security, and reliability of the app.
We understand the importance of providing our customers with a smooth and seamless transition to the new Teams client, and we have developed a comprehensive rollout schedule to ensure that this process is as easy as possible. The new Teams client is now available for all customers and is being enabled in stages, with Teams Admin Center controls available until late May 2024. We strongly recommend that organizations upgrade to the latest version of the new Teams client as soon as possible to take advantage of all the new features and enhancements.
Starting in late May, the new Teams client will become the default client for all active Teams users, and customers will receive the new Teams update. Users will still have the option to toggle back to the classic Teams client if they wish. However, beginning in mid-June, all remaining classic Teams users will be updated to the new Teams client, and the toggle switch will be removed. After this, Microsoft will attempt to remove the classic Teams client from all devices.
